5.6 Setting the Evaluation Length to an Arbitrary Length
The SJ-301 is capable of setting the evaluation length to an arbitrary length in a range
between 0.3 mm and 12.5 mm (.01" and .49").
NOTE • The setting range of an arbitrary evaluation length depends on a cutoff value and
a filter setting. When performing measurement at an arbitrary evaluation length,
set the length after determining a cutoff value and a filter setting.
• Note that the procedure for setting the evaluation length to an arbitrary length for
assessed profile MOTIF.R/MOTIF.W is different from that for other assessed
profiles. For information about the setting procedure, refer to “■ Operating
procedure if assessed profile (MOTIF.R/MOTIF.W) is specified” described later.
■ Evaluation length and cutoff length
In the JS-301, for the R profile and a profile compatible with DIN4776, the settable range of
evaluation length is determined by the cutoff value and the filter type that have been set. the
relationship between the upper limit length and the evaluation length in assessed profile
MOTIF.R/MOTIF.W is indicated as shown below.
