14.5.8 Maximum profile valley depth, Rv (DIN, ISO, JIS’94, JIS’01)
Obtain the profile valley depth Rvi for each sampling length of the assessed profile. The
mean of the Rvi’s obtained over the evaluation length is the Rv.
Rv =
Rv1+Rv2+Rv3+Rv4+Rv5
5
(where, the number of the sampling lengths is 5)
● Rv (ANSI, JIS’82) is the maximum profile valley depth over the evaluation length.
14.5.9 Total height of the profile, Rt
Rt is the sum of the maximum profile peak height and the maximum profile valley depth
over the evaluation length.
14.5.10 Skewness of the profile, Sk
Sk represents the degree of bias either in the upward or downward direction of an amplitude
distribution curve *1. The skewness of a profile, Sk, is given by the following formula.
