SETTING UP THE SJ-301
3.1 SJ-301 Setting
The following settings must be made before making measurements with the SJ-301.
● Installing the Drive/Detector unit and the Detector
The SJ-301 is shipped with the Display unit, Detector, and Drive unit packed separately.
Connect the three units with connecting cables.
This section also explains how to attach and detach the Drive/Detector unit.
● Loading a roll of printer paper
Load a roll of printer paper in the Display unit.
This section also explains how to attach and detach the printer cover.
● Applying the touch panel protection sheet
Apply the protection sheet on the touch panel of the Display unit, following the procedures
given in section 3.4.
● Turning on the power supply (turning on the battery switch and the power supply)
Turn on the battery switch on the Display unit.
This section also explains turning the power on/off during usual operations.
● Setting the language, date, and unit of measurement
Set the display language from among Japanese, English, German, French, Italian, and
Spanish and the date/time. English is the default display language.
The unit of measurement for the SJ-301 can be set to either “mm” or “inch”. Change the
unit as necessary.
● Installing the SJ-301 in the carrying case
For safe use of the SJ-301, especially on the shop floor, put the Display unit in the
carrying case, following the procedures given at the end of this chapter.
