4.3 Measurement
To perform measurement, set the SJ-301 on a workpiece and press the [START/STOP] key.
After measurement has been completed, the measured results will be displayed on the touch
panel.
4.3.1 Setting the workpiece and SJ-301
■ Placing the workpiece and SJ-301
For surface roughness measurement to be successful, it should be performed on a firm base
that is sufficiently insulated from all sources of vibration. If measurement is performed being
subject to significant vibrations, results may be unreliable.
TIP In cases where the measured surface is smaller than the SJ-301 bottom or where
the surface is curved (cylindrical, etc.), install the SJ-301 using an appropriate
optional accessory. See also “Chapter 10 INSTALLING THE SJ-301 WITH OP-
TIONAL ACCESSORIES”.
1. Position the workpiece so that the measured surface is level.
2. Place the SJ-301 on the workpiece.
In this operation support the SJ-301 by the reference surfaces A and B, as shown below.
