Electra Elite IPK II Document Revision 4C
Wireless - DECT 2 - 1117
Repeater
The Repeater allows extended coverage for low traffic areas not covered by a Base Station. Sufficient
coverage for the main traffic area should be provided by the Base Station. An external antenna can also
be connected to extend the coverage area. Local power is required for the Repeater (within six feet) and
must be synchronized with a Base Station in the zone providing coverage. The Repeater is
synchronized with the Base Station using the Repeater Programming Kit that provides an RS232 cable
to connect the Repeater to a PC. A Windows application is used to define the Base Station that should
be synchronized with the Repeater. Each Repeater can support two simultaneous Wireless – DECT
traffic channels at 32 Kbs. As the Repeater is paired with the Base Station, these are not additional
channels, but are available to handle calls from the Base Station as the user moves out of range from
the Base Station to the Repeater area. Repeaters should be placed a minimum of 75 feet line of sight
between each other to prevent problems with the channels in use.
Conditions
The CLKG-U( ) Unit is not required for IPK II Wireless – DECT.
Four simultaneous calls can be made per Base Station.
Sixteen simultaneous calls can be made per BSU (Master) ETU.
Forty-eight simultaneous calls can be made per IPK II system.

Repeaters expand the coverage area of a Base Station without using a BSU port.
Each Base Station can have up to three Repeaters, and they can be used to form a linear
line (chain) or a non-linear line. Three repeaters can be assigned to one base.
When the Wireless – DECT telephone does not respond to an incoming call within 12
seconds because it is out of area, the originator hears a busy tone.
The Out of Area Timer is fixed at 12 seconds (Program 20-22-05).
The Call Forward – Busy/No Answer feature is available when the CPU detects out of area.
Repeaters require an AC Adapter for power.
The maximum distance between the KSU and Base Station is 3,280 feet.
The maximum number of Wireless – DECT handsets is 248.
The maximum number of Base stations is 16.
The maximum number of BSU ETUs that can be installed in the IPK II KSU is three: one
