9 Commissioning via SOPAS
9.1 Preparation
9.1.1 Installing the software
SOPAS ET 2018.3 or higher is required for configuring the MLG-2.
The latest version of SOPAS ET can be found at www.sick.de > Search > SOPAS.
Please note the system requirements for SOPAS ET. These requirements are specified
on the download website:

Run the setup.exe from the download website.

Follow the instructions in the Setup wizard.
Ethernet settings
The MLG-2 is shipped with the following IP network configuration:

DHCP activated.
■
IP address: 192.168.200.100
■
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
You can change the IP network configuration in SOPAS ET.
If you would like the MLG-2 to acquire an IP address from a DHCP server, DHCP must
be activated. If the MLG-2 is unable to locate a DHCP server, the MLG-2 will use the IP
address 192.168.200.100.
9.1.2 Device selection
A SOPAS Device Description (SDD) is required in order to configure the MLG-2. The
MLG-2 is shipped with the current SDD.
The MLG-2 must be connected to a PC/laptop via Ethernet. You can load the SDD
directly from the device and SOPAS ET will detect the MLG-2 type automatically.
Once you have selected the required MLG-2, the configuration interface/wizard starts
up.
9.2 Setting up MLG-2 (installation assistant)
“Installation assistant” wizard
You can set up the MLG-2 using the “Installation assistant” wizard via SOPAS. The wiz‐
ard includes sensor alignment, sensor teach-in and material teach-in.
You can start the “Installation assistant” wizard:

If you select the “Online” mode for the MLG-2 for the first time in SOPAS ET
•
On the "Start” page
•
On the “Enhanced Sensing” page via the “Sensor alignment” menu
Running sensor alignment
Prerequisite:
•
The MLG-2 can be seen in SOPAS ET.
