1.Raisetherearofthemachinesothatbothwheelsareofftheground
2.Installthebrakelinkagecomponentsthatwerepreviouslyremoved.Ifthe
brakecablebrackets(item3inFigure266)wereremovedfromthesteering
fork,installthebracketwithnotchorientedtowardthemachineframe.
3.Usethenotesthatyourecordedduringthebrakecableremoval,positionthe
brakecabletothemachine.
4.Connectthebrakecable(item1inFigure267)tothefrontofthemachineas
follows:
A.Installtheendofbrakecabletothecableyoke.
B.Positionthebrakecabletotheoperatorplatformbracket.
C.Tightenthecablehousingangenuts(item2inFigure267)tosecure
thebrakecabletotheoperatorplatformbracket.
5.Connectthebrakecable(item1inFigure266)totherearofthemachineas
follows:
A.Securethebrakecabletothebrakeactuatorleverwiththeclevispin
andthereturnspring.
B.Positionthebrakecabletothebrakecablebracket.
C.Adjusttheangenutsattherearofeachbrakecableuntilaslightdragis
feltagainstthebrakedrumwhenthebrakepedalisnotengaged.
6.Pressthebrakepedalwitha68Kg(150lbs)forceandholditfor5seconds.
Releasethebrakepedal.Repeatthisstep4moretimestopre-stretchthe
cable.
Ifthebrakepedalcontactstheoorplateorthebrakecablecleviscontacts
thecablehousingduringthepre-stretchingprocedure:
A.Loosenthecableattherearofthemachine.
B.Adjustthecableatthefrontofthemachinesothatthecablehousing
movesclosertothecableyoke.
C.Repeatthestep6.Thecableyokeshouldbesquaretobothcablesafter
adjustment(Figure267).
7.Adjustthebrakecableattherearuntiltherearwheelislockedanda7.6mm
(0.3inch)gapexistsbetweenthebrakepedalandtheendoftheslotinthe
oorplate.Tightentheangenutsagainstthecablebracket.
8.Securethebrakecabletothemachinewiththecabletiesinlocationsthat
younotedduringthecableremoval.
CAUTION
Afterservicingthebrakes,alwayscheckthebrakesforproper
operationinawideopen,levelareathatisfreeofotherpersons
andobstructions.
9.Checkfortheoperationofthebrake,beforeyoureturnthemachineto
operation.
