IMPORTANT
Beforeinstallingthetierodend,cleanthetapersofthesteering
forkandtierodend.Ensurethatthetapersarefreeofgrease,oil,
rust,anddirt.Donotuseanti-seizelubricant,whenyouinstallthe
tierodend.
Note:Ifnecessary,tightentheslottedhexnutfurtheruntiltheslotinthehex
nutalignswiththeholeinthetierodballjointstud.
7.Connectthetierodend(item1inFigure269)tothesteeringforkwiththe
slottedhexnut;tightenthehexnutfrom48to54N∙m(35to40ft-lb).Install
anewcotterpin.
8.Installthebrakecabletothebrakeactuatorleverandbrakecablebracket;
refertoBrakeCables(page6–20).
9.Lubricatethesteeringforkspindlethroughthegreasettingontheaxle.
Greaseshouldpurgefromtheendsofthespindleidentifyingthatthegrease
cavityiscompletelylled.Wipeupexcessgrease.
10.Installthebrakeassembly,wheelhub,andbrakedrumtothemachine;refer
toServicingtheBrake(page6–15).
11.Installtherearwheel;refertoInstallingtheWheel(page6–14).
WARNING
Failuretomaintainpropertorquecouldresultinfailureorlossof
wheelandmayresultinpersonalinjury.
Maintainthepropertorqueofthewheel-lugnuts.
12.Tightenthelocknutthatsecuresthewheelhubtothewheelmotorfrom407
to542N∙m(300to400ft-lb).
13.Checkandadjustthewheelalignment;refertoAligningtheWheels(page
6–8).
14.Checkandadjustthebrakes;refertoAdjustingtheBrake(page6–6).
15.Ensurethatthereisnocontactbetweenthemachinecomponentswhilethe
wheelsmovefromlocktolock.Adjustifnecessary.
16.Checktheoperationofthebrake,beforeyoureturnthemachinetooperation.
