CAUTION
Looseninganyairconditioningsystemttingorcomponentallows
thepressurizedrefrigeranttoescape,causingpossibleinjury.
Donotloosenanysystemttingorcomponentuntilacertiedair
conditioningservicetechniciandischargesthesystemcompletely.
4.Haveacertiedairconditioningservicetechnicianevacuatetheair
conditioningsystem.
5.Disconnectboththeevaporatorcoreswivelttingsfromthefrontportsofthe
expansionvalve.Immediatelyinstallthecapsonthetubesandexpansion
valveportstopreventmoistureandcontaminantsfromenteringintothe
system.Positiontheexpansionvalvewithattachedhosesawayfromthe
mixingbox.
6.Forassemblypurposes,labeltheheaterhoses.Loosenthehoseclamps
anddisconnectboththeheaterhosesfromthetubesontheheatercore.
7.Removethemixingboxcoverasfollows:
A.Carefullyuseasmallprybartoraisetheheadofthepininthecenterof
eachrivetthatsecuresthemixingboxcover.
B.Lifttherivetsfromthecoverandmixingbox.
C.Removethemixingboxcover.
8.Locatethewirefromthefreezeswitchthatisinsertedintotheairconditioning
evaporatorcorethroughthemountbracketcover.Carefullypullthewirefrom
thecoverandpositionitawayfromthecover.
9.Removethe5screws(item5inFigure331)thatsecurethemountbracket
covertothemountbracket.Liftthecoverandpositionitawayfromthe
mountbrackettoensurethatyoudonotdamagethefreezeswitchorwires
connectedtotheswitch.
10.Carefullylifttheheaterandairconditioningevaporatorcoreassemblyfrom
theframe.
11.Separatetheheaterandairconditioningevaporatorcores(Figure331).The
coresaresecuredtoeachotherwithdoublesidedtape(item15inFigure
331).
12.Inspecttheseals,gaskets,andinsulationinthemixingboxassemblyfortears
orotherdamage.Replaceallthesealingcomponentsthatweredamaged.
InstallingtheHeaterandAirConditioningEvaporatorCores
1.Assembletheheaterandairconditioningevaporatorcores(Figure331).
2.Carefullyinstalltheheaterandairconditioningevaporatorcoreassemblyinto
theframeinthemixingbox.
Note:Donotdamagethefreezeswitchorwiresconnectedtotheswitch
duringassemblyofthemountbracketcover.
3.Positionthemountbracketcovertothemountbracket.Securethecoverto
themountbracketwiththe5screws(item5inFigure331).
4.Insertthewirefromthefreezeswitchintotheairconditioningevaporator
corethroughthemountbracketcover.
Note:Thewireshouldbeinserted51mm(2inches)throughthecover.
