Vortec 1600 - Intake Manifold, Remove and Install - Port Fuel Injected Models

Important: Fuel leak – observe safety regulations and
national legislation. Reduce fuel pressure with Pressure
Tester KM–J–34730–91 via testing port – collect escaping
fuel in suitable container.
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect ground cable from battery.
2. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the sensors
mounted on the intake manifold.
3. Disconnect fuel and vent lines.
4. Remove drive belts. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in
Section 2, Engine Cooling
5. Remove the Generator top mounting bolt and swing the
generator rearward to gain access to intake manifold
mounting bolts.
6. Remove the intake manifold mounting bolts, the intake
manifold and gasket.
7. Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket remnants.
