1. Preparation
WARNING
Injury and Damage Hazard: Do not turn the crankshaft when the
platforms, tools and/or supports, are installed. This will cause
injury to personnel and damage to equipment.
WARNING
Injury Hazard: Before you operate the turning gear, make sure
that no personnel are near the flywheel or in the engine.
Note: The lifting tool (94116D) must only be used at positions where the supply
unit platform prevents access.
1) Read the data in:
D 0012−1 General Guidelines for Lifting Tools
D 3301−1 Platform.
2) If necessary, remove the applicable platform components to get access to the main
bearing.
3) Operate the turning gear to turn the crank approximately 90_ after TDC to the
exhaust side.
4) Set to off the main oil supply pumps
5) Close the oil lubrication to the main bearing.
6) Lock the turning gear to prevent operation.
