4 Removal/ Installation, Replacement and Adjustment
Pre Optics System
5 Ensure the beam combiner bracket is flush with casting edge before tightening the 4 screws
onto the casting.
6 Tighten 4 beam combiner screws into casting. There is no further alignment required.
Reconnect plugs. Verify there are no home position errors when instrument is switched on.
Thermal stabilizer
The thermal stabilizer’s function is to prevent pre optics temperature fluctuations from affecting
the stability of the Polychromater. It is positioned between the preoptics optical exit point and
the Polychromator optical entry point.
1 To replace the thermal stabilizer assembly it is necessary to move the right hand side of the
polychromator to the back of the instrument. This can be achieved by first removing the gas
control module.
2 Remove the bolt from under the polychromator using 18mm socket wrench (as shown).
