3.10.2.3.3 Adjustment of axial play in tapered bearings of the wheel gear group
drive gear
Axial play in bearings 18 (figure 3.10.5) shall be not more than 0,05 mm.
Adjust bearings in the following sequence:
- loosen mounting of drive gear cage 22;
- by means of disassembling bolts move away drive gear cage 22 and by selecting
the required number of adjusting shims 21 adjust axial play in bearings 18. Diametrical
shims 21 should have the same thickness.
- tighten mounting bolts of drive gear cage 22 with a torque from 20 to 25 N•m, in
this case tighten in a criss-cross way with compulsory turning of twin joint 24. To provide
turning of twin joint 24 the FDA should be raised off the ground, so that front wheels turn
round.
3.10.2.3.4 Adjustment of axial play in tapered bearings of the wheel flange
The rules of axial play adjustment in tapered bearings of the wheel flange are given in
subparagraph 6.4.5.2 “Operation 49. Check of axial play and adjustment of tapered bearings of
the wheel flange” of subsection 6.4.5 “Technical maintenance every 1000 operation hours”
3.10.2.3.5 Adjustment of axial preload in the pivot tapered bearings
The rules of axial preload in the pivot tapered bearings are given in subparagraph
6.4.4.14 “Operation 45. Check and adjustment of axial preload in the pivot tapered bear-
ings” of subsection 6.4.4 “Technical maintenance every 500 operation hours”.
3.10.2.3.6 Adjustment of the FDA wheel gear group turning angle
The maximum turning angle of wheel gear group housing 1 (figure 3.10.7) from the
position corresponding to the straightline movement is 40
