6 Technical maintenance
6.1 General instructions
Technical maintenance (TM) is necessary for maintaining the tractor in operable
state in the course of its operation. Failure to observe the specified intervals of TM and
bad quality of TM may result in significant reduction of tractor life, increase of failures, en-
gine power loss and increase in expenses for tractor operation. An operator shall carry out
daily inspection of the tractor, checking fasteners for tightening, preventing fuel, liquid, and
oil leakage, dirt and other deposits accumulation, which can cause operating troubles, igni-
tion or accidents.
Notes about performance of maintenance services shall be put in the tractor service
book.
Observe storage precautions and disposal rules. Never discharge used liquid to the
ground. Use special tanks for safe storage of waste.
WARNING: DURING CARRYING OUT OF TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE AND RE-
PAIR SERVICES ALWAYS COMPLY WITH SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, LISTED IN SUB-
SECTION 6.6 “SAFETY MEASURES DURING TM AND REPAIR OPERATIONS”!
ATTENTION: IF THERE ARE NO SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS, BEFORE STARTING
ANY TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE OR ADJUSTMENT SERVICES, ETC., STOP THE
ENGINE AND ENGAGE PARKING BRAKES. IN CASE SAFETY GUARDS AND COVERS
ARE OFF, ENSURE THEY ARE MOUNTED BACK AFTER TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE
HAS BEEN COMPLETED, BEFORE YOU START OPERATING THE TRACTOR!
During technical maintenance of hydraulic systems for lift linkage, steering, trans-
mission and engine of the tractor, it is necessary to strictly observe the schedule of oil and
filter change. It is not allowed to fill (refill) oil that is not specified in section 6.7 of the trac-
tor operation manual.
Before refilling and replacing filter cartridges, clean filler plugs, necks, filter caps and
adjoining surfaces from dirt and dust. During replacement of filter cartridges, rinse the in-
ternal surfaces of filter housings and caps with diesel fuel.
When the tractor is coupled with hydraulically-operated agricultural implements,
clean the clutches, fittings, adapting pipes and other connecting parts of the implement
and the tractor thoroughly.
In case the hydraulic system is working with hydraulically-operated agricultural im-
plements filled with oil, origin of which is unknown, the oil in the implement must be re-
placed by the oil, primed into the tractor hydraulic lift system.
Purity of the hydraulic system oil ensures its fail-safe operation.
Types of scheduled technical maintenance are given in table 6.1.1.
