ENGINE DECK
The engine compartment decks are
constructed of titanium, with aluminum
alloy support beams and serve as the lower
firewalls.
ENGINE FIRE DETECTION
Powerplant fire detection is accomplished
by two
independent continuous loop
detection systems, one on each engine
compartments' engine deck. Each system
has a warning light and test switch.
Resistance of the semi-conductor
detection element decreases with
temperature rise, which allows current to
flow between the wire conductor and the
stainless steel tube, illuminating the engine
fire warning light.
