What to do if LEDs on Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone Network Hardware components are not indicating a healthy state?
    • L
      leecarolynAug 16, 2025
If LEDs are changing rapidly or not indicating a healthy state, it could be due to several reasons. First, verify that the boot and POST processes are complete, which usually takes at least 3 minutes after power-on. Second, check if beaconing is enabled for the device or individual components by using the switchShow command to determine if switch beaconing or blade beaconing are on. It's also possible individual components have failed, so refer to the LED tables in the "System Monitoring" section for interpretation and recommended actions. Finally, inspect the pins on the components for damage, and replace parts if necessary.

What to do if several components of Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone are not operating?
    • S
      scott61Aug 18, 2025
If several or all components are not operating, first, ensure that both power cables are connected to live outlets. Second, verify that both AC power switches are turned on; when on, the AC switches should light up green.

What to do if one or more port blades have shut down on Broadcom Network Hardware?
    • D
      darrellwilliamsAug 21, 2025
If one or more port blades have shut down or failed POST, first, check the internal temperature readings using the sensorShow command, and if components are overheating, shut down port blades as necessary to return the temperature readings to the operating ranges. Also, try moving the blades in the chassis because airflow might not be adequate to cool everything in certain configurations. Second, use the slotShow command to determine the status, and for more information, enter the diagDisablePost command; then, use the slotPowerOff [slot number] and slotPowerOn [slot number] command. Resolve the source of the problem or replace the blade as required. Third, inspect the pins on the blade and on the backplane inside the slot for damage, and replace the components if necessary.

Why does Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone chassis power off automatically?
    • A
      Alexander LeeAug 25, 2025
The entire chassis might power off automatically if the power supplies are inadequate to support the installed components. To resolve this, add an additional power supply.

What to do if CP blades are failing over frequently in Broadcom Network Hardware?
    • M
      Mr. Mark BraunAug 27, 2025
If CP blades are failing over frequently, first, ensure that the serial port activity remains below the specified amount. Second, make sure that the Ethernet traffic remains below the specified amount. Third, check the internal temperature using the tempshow and sensorShow commands. If components are overheating, shut down port blades as necessary to return the temperature to the operating range. Also, try moving the blades in the chassis because it is possible that airflow might not be adequate to cool everything in certain configurations.

What to do if an individual component of Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone is not operating as expected?
    • J
      juliasanchezAug 30, 2025
If an individual component is not operating as expected, first, ensure that the component is receiving power (the power LED should be on) and is firmly seated. Second, inspect the pins on the component and inside the chassis for damage, and replace parts as required. Third, use the tempshow and sensorShow commands to determine the component status. If the component is a CP blade or port blade, enter the slotShow command to determine the status. Replace the component as necessary.

What to do if none of the LEDs on a Broadcom Network Hardware component are on?
    • D
      davidbrownSep 2, 2025
If none of the LEDs on a component are on, the component might not be seated correctly. Ensure that the device has power and the component is firmly seated. If the problem continues, enter the sensorShow command to determine the component status. If the component is a CP blade or port blade, enter the slotShow command to determine the status. If the component might have failed, replace the component as necessary.

What to do if the serial connection is faulty in Broadcom Network Hardware?
    • K
      Katherine BarnettSep 6, 2025
If the serial connection is faulty or serial port logs have incorrect or missing information: 1. Ensure that the cable is firmly connected to the workstation computer and to the device. 2. Ensure that the terminal emulator application is configured as follows: 9600 bits per second, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, no flow control. 3. Ensure that the device is connected to an RS-232 port, as RS-423 serial ports might experience difficulties. 4. Remove the cable and inspect the pins on the cable and in the serial port. Do not reinstall if the pins on either component have any visible damage; replace the components as required.

What to do if the CP Ethernet link speed is different than expected in Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone?
    • D
      Dawn HancockSep 8, 2025
If the CP Ethernet link speed is different than expected or a link cannot be established, it might be due to a conflict with the CP Ethernet link speed negotiation set up by the network. Specify the CP Ethernet link speed by typing the ifModeSet command. For more information about Ethernet connectivity to the device, refer to the LAN guidelines provided through the MyBrocade website.

What to do if configuration data is inaccurate on Broadcom Brocade DCX 8510-4 Backbone Network Hardware?
    • H
      Holly PetersonSep 12, 2025
If configuration data is inaccurate or cannot be accessed, it may be because the chassis was powered off/on while a WWN card was uninstalled or failed. Install an operational WWN card and power the system off/on again.
