büS/CAN open-Design
15.3 Quickstart for Type 8681 büS/CANopen
“büS” (Bürkertsystembus)standsforthecommunicationbusdevelopedbyBürkertandisbasedonthe
CANopenprotocol.Thefollowingstepsrefertotheapplicationofthee.g.EtherNet/IPprotocolusingaBürkert
gatewaypreconguredforamaximumof63controlheads.
Forothergatewaycongurations(e.g.inconjunctionwithELEMENTpositioners),thespecicdocumentation
forpreconguredBürkertgatewaysmustbeobserved.
Aftermountingthecontrolheads(Type8681büS/CANopen)inthenetwork,thefollowingoperationsmust
rstbecarriedoutonthecontrolheads:
1.) Addressing of the control heads
According to
“15.14.2SettingthebüS/CANopenaddress(NodeID)” each control head in the network must
beassigneditsownuniqueaddress(Node-ID).
When using a precongured gateway: Foreasystart-up,eachcontrolheadshouldbeassigneditsunique
nodeIDbetween1and63usingtheDIPswitches.Thisallowsthepreconguredcommunicationsettings
betweenthegatewayandeachcontrolheadtobeused.Thefactorysetting(address“0”=softwarecongu-
rableaddress/nodeID)shouldnotbeusedfurthermore.
When using a non-pre-congured gateway or when using the factory setting “0” (software-congurable
address/node ID):AdevicecongurationviaBürkertCommunicatoron siteis requiredforstart-upeach
controlhead(seealsochapter“15.14.3”onpage99).
Error-free parameter access by the Logix Designer: To ensure this, the new addresses should be selected
clearlyarrangedandinsequence(startingwith“1”andwithoutgapsinthenumericalseries!).
Anychangeofthedeviceaddressrequiresadevicerestart.
2.) Setting the baud rate
Set the baud rates according to chapter
“15.14.1Settingthebaudrate”. The combination of cable lengths
andbaudrateisveryimportant(seechapter“15.4.2Totallinelengthanddroplinelengthsofthebuscables”).
Thebaudrateofalldevicesconnectedtothenetwork(includingthegateway)mustbethesame.
Anychangeofthebaudraterequiresadevicerestart.
3.) “Hiding” of non-existent devices
Iflessthan63devicesareassignedtothegateway,thenon-existentdevicesmustbe“hidden”atthegateway,
both outputs AND inputs - see chapter “15.18Congurationofthecontrolheadnetwork”, either using the
Logix-Designer(chapter“15.18.1”)orBürkertCommunicator(chapter“15.18.2”).
Afterthechangeshavebeenmade,adevicerestartisrequired.
4.) Careful closing of the electrical connections
Duetomoisture(includingsteam)inthesystem,allelectricalconnections(M12plug-inconnections)mustbe
rmlyscrewedonwith0.6(+0.1)Nm.Allopenelectricalconnectionsmustbewell“sealed”withprotective
caps(seeinformationboxinchapter“15.2Networkprinciple/Interfaces” and also chapter “16 Accessories
forbüSdevices” and chapter “17Cablingexamples(büS/CANopen)”.
