Managing Cisco Discovery Protocol
The Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) is a Cisco proprietary protocol that enables
devices to advertise their existence to other devices by CDP sending out periodic
updates to a Multicast address. In addition, CDP allows devices to receive
information about other devices on the same LAN or on the remote WAN side. The
system supports CDP versions 1 and 2. To enable CDP on the device:

The following fields are configurable by the user:
• CDP Status — Indicates if CDP is enabled on the device. The possible field
values are:
- Enable — Enables CDP on the device. This is the default value.
- Disable — Disables CDP on the device.
