Networker Interface Board
A Networker Interface Board (NIB) enables the maximum distance from a control panel to an
XNode, MNode, MIDNode, IDNode or keypad to be increased to 1km.
The NIB is supplied as a driver unit and receiver unit. The driver unit connects to the output of
the control panel and the receiver unit can be connected up to 1km away. A separate
remote power supply unit is required at the receiver unit.
Calculating Voltage Drop
In order for the system to work correctly, the voltage at each device must NOT drop below
10.5V (recommended above 12V) even when running on the standby battery. Standard 7/0.2
alarm cable has a resistance of 8 Ohms per 100m per core. The voltage drop is calculated
using the following formula:
V Drop = Current drawn x cable length x 0.08 x 2
The following table shows the voltage drop against the current drawn and cable length.
