UP OPERATIONS BY THE USER
The CHORUS has to be installed in an environment suitable for its normal function, that will meet the
electrical requirements (see par. 1.5.2) and safety information (see chap. 2) supplied in this manual.
In particular, the laboratory must have a network socket in accordance with relative legislation, fitted
with a correct earth connection and with a line voltage that must be guaranteed in accordance with the
power and frequency specifications. In the absence of this guarantee, the customer must equip himself
with a voltage stabilizer. Variations in voltage over a given range of tolerance can cause malfunctioning
and/or damage of the instrument.
If there are frequent current interruptions in the laboratory where the instrument is placed, it is
recommended to connect the instrument to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to prevent cycle
interruptions. In this case a 1000 Watt UPS is able to sustain the working system for over 1 hour.
The CHORUS does not need to be connected to centralized gas or liquid supplies, because the
required liquids are contained in tanks that are supplied with the system.
Vice versa, a safety tank has to be positioned on the outside of the instrument and connected to a
special double tube, to collect the waste liquids. Alternatively, it can be connected to a centralized
waste disposal system; using the above-mentioned tube with the connection specifications.
3.2.2 C
ONNECTION OF THE INTERNAL TANKS
These operations can be performed even when the instrument is switched on, as long as it is in stand-
by, i.e. in the window of the main menu.
In the right-hand front cover of the instrument (see fig. 1) there is an opening (B), which provides
access to the area where the tanks of Washing Buffer for Infectious diseases and Autoimmunity and
Cleaning Solution and/or Sanitation Solution are located and where the electric and hydraulic
connectors are available to connect the catching probes that are inserted into the tanks (see fig. 17).
fig. 17
The CHORUS instrument is equipped with (see fig. 18):
- an attachment to the tank with Washing Buffer
- an attachment to the tank with Cleaning Solution (This attachment is also connected to the
tank with Sanitation Solution to substitute the Cleaning Solution, during the sanitation
cycle).
