3.6 MAINTENANCE
3.6.1 C
LEANING THE INSTRUMENT AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
The outside of the instrument must be cleaned using the following precautions:
- switch off and unplug the instrument;
- use a damp cloth (alcohol or non corrosive detergents) for the painted parts;
- use a dry cloth for the display and Plexiglas window;
- do not wet the connections on the back of the instrument or the on/off switch;
- Wear PPE or at least the protective gloves.
The cleaning has to include the following parts
Inside and outside of the window,
the cabinet,
the compartment of the tanks and the external part of the tanks.
The surroundings of the instrument, the working bench can be cleaned with classic detergents
depending on the type of table the MD is positioned on.
It is necessary to inspect the introduction gullies of the strips in the tray, so that whenever the
compartments for the strips should be humid or wet one can call for technical assistance.
3.6.2 R
EINTEGRATION OF OPERATING LIQUIDS
The following liquids have to be reintegrated periodically to ensure correct use of the instrument:
Washing solution:
this is contained in a 2-litre tank and has to be reintegrated when the instrument shows that it is
lacking, or prior to starting a cycle. Since the washing solution is supplied concentrated, one should
prepare the solution in a different tank than the one normally used, following the instructions
supplied on the packaging of the concentrated solution.
Buffer solution (for infectivity)
this is contained in a 1-litre tank and has to be reintegrated when the instrument shows that it is
lacking or before starting a cycle. Since the buffer solution is supplied concentrated, one should
prepare the solution in a different tank than the one normally used, following the instructions
supplied on the packaging of the concentrated solution.
Buffer solution (for autoimmunity)
this is contained in a 1-litre tank and has to be reintegrated when the instrument shows that it is
lacking or prior to stating a cycle. Since the buffer solution is supplied concentrated, one should
prepare the solution in a different tank than the one normally used, following the instructions
supplied on the packaging of the concentrated solution.
ATTENTION
Do not top up the tanks when inserted in the instrument.
Do not top up the tanks when the instrument is in operation.
