The strips with the calibrators may be processed at the same time as the sample strips of the same
batches. The only condition to comply with is that the strips of the calibrators must be placed in the first
positions of the trays, one by one, without any precise sequence.
3.5.3 QC
3.5.3.1 Label indications
Each strip is identified by a barcode of 18 characters divided in 8 fields:
[ AAA ] B [ CC ] D [ EE ] [ FF ] [ GGGGGG ] [ HH ]
The first 4 fields:
A (three digits) identification code of the test
B code of the production year of the test
C (two digits) production batch from 0 to 99
D code of the validity month of the test
have the same meaning as those of the strip which the QC is relating to.
In fact, the QC must be linked to a test batch, and thus it reports the code of the test, of the production
year, of the batch and of the expiry date.
E (two digits) indicates the minimum acceptable limit of the control
F (two digits) indicates the maximum acceptable limit of the control
G (6 digits) not used
H (2 digits) identification code of the QC
3.5.3.2 Use
The QC is processed as any sample and its code represents the sample code. Therefore, to allow the
instrument to recognize that the strip was loaded with the QC insert, in the column corresponding to
the sample code, or in CList, or in the RList, near the strip code, the QC code either by reading it with
the external barcode reader, or by manually editing it.
The strips with the QC may be put together with the samples, after the calibrators.
In order to process a QC of a test, the batch of that test must have been previously calibrated.
