Manuale operativo
CHORUS
40 Rev. 0 del 06/2012
The insertion of the strip ensures that the strip is be pushed to overcome the resistance of the spring
which, although it seems negligible, can take the operator by surprise and provoke a kick which causes
the collected serum to spill.
Performing some insertion tests with an empty strip to get more experience in the insertion routine is
therefore recommended.
The extraction of the strip has a similar problem since it must be extracted by force, even light force,
to overcome the resistance of the spring that retains the strip in its seat.
Also in this case performing some tests with an empty strip to get more experience in the extraction
routine is recommended.
3.5.1.3 Serum distribution
The serum dispensation may occur with the strip inserted, or before inserting the strip into the tray. In
any case, strictly follow the safety routines expected by the lab, and wear the Personal Protection
Equipment (PPE)
3.5.2 C
ALIBRATORS
3.5.2.1 Label indications
Each strip is identified by a barcode of 18 characters divided in 8 fields:
[ AAA ] B [ CC ] D [ EEEEE ] [ FF ] [ GG ] [ HH ]
The first 4 fields:
A (three digits) identification code of the test
B code of the production year of the test
C (two digits) production batch from 0 to 99
D code of the validity month of the test
which have the same meaning as the strip the calibrator is relating to.
In fact, if a test requires calibration, this has to be executed by a calibrator of the same test, of the
same production year, of the same batch and with the same expiry date.
E (5 digits) used only for quantitative tests, reports the coefficients of the first four points of the
calibration curve
F (two digits) correction coefficient of the calibrator
G (two digits) used only for quantitative tests, reports the coefficient of the fifth point of the calibration
curve
H (2 digits) identification code of the calibrator
3.5.2.2 Use
The calibrator is processed as any sample and its code represents the sample code. Therefore, to
allow the instrument to recognize that the strip was loaded with the calibrator insert, in the column
corresponding to the sample code, or in CList, or in the RList, near the strip code, the calibrator code
either by reading it with the external barcode reader, or by manually editing it.
