6 Functional Procedures → Ethernet on the PC
➡ We recommend that a temporary IP address is set up on the PC,
because then the network settings on your PC for the normal con-
nections are not changed. If you have already
set up this type of
“alternative configuration” for another network, you must note
the existing settings so that you can restore them after conclud-
ing the configuration of modules or the Test Controller.
In Windows 7 or 8 open the Network an
d Sharing Center, e.g.
using
at the bottom on the right in the taskbar. Click on the
LAN connection (the name may
be different) through which the
Test Controller is connected to the PC (refer to Fig. 6-4 on
page 139). In the following status dialog click on Properties
(requir
es administrator rights). Then mark Internet
Protocol
Version 4 and click on Properties (refer also to Fig. 6-5).
Then proceed to the register card Alternative Configuration
and spec
ify an address for the PC, e.g. 192.168.100.5, and a
subnet mask, e.g. 255.255.255.0 (Fig. 6-6).
