5.8 DIMM
5.8.1 DIMM Compatibility Information
DIMMs on the same server must be of the same model.
Comply with the following rules when configuring DIMMs:
1. DIMMs of different specifications (such as capacity, bit width, rank, and height) cannot
be mixed in one server. That is, a server must use DIMMs of the same BOM number.
2. DIMMs in same memory channel (for example, 000 and 001) must be provided by the
same vendor and have the same specifications. DIMMs of different specifications cannot
be installed in the same memory channel.
3. A maximum of thirty-two 2933 MT/s DDR4 ECC DIMMs are supported, including
RDIMMs.
4. The server supports DIMMs of 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. A server fully
configured with DIMMs has up to 4096 GB of memory.
5. All DIMMs in a server operate at the same speed, which is the lower of following:
– Memory speed supported by a specific CPU
– The lowest of the maximum operating speeds for selected memory configurations
(See Maximum operating speed in the following tables.)
