The Hardware Management Console is required for systems using logical
partitions (LPARs), IBM Eserver Capacity Upgrade on Demand (CUoD)
upgrade operations, and redundant Service Processor operations.

The optional features for the Eserver i5 Model 550 system unit include:
If a PCI disk controller is required in the system unit, choose one of the
following controllers:
– #5703 PCI-X RAID Disk Unit Controller
Provides support for up to four disk units. This controller supports RAID
but does not support hardware data compression.
– #5715 PCI-X Tape/DASD Controller
Provides support for up to four disk units. This controller supports RAID
but does not support hardware data compression.
Internal tape unit
– #1889 80 GB VXA-2 Tape Device
– #5753 30 GB ¼-inch Cartridge Tape Device
– #5754 50 GB ¼-inch Cartridge Tape Device
– #6134 60 GB 8mm Tape Device (supported in Linux and AIX partitions
only)
– #6258 36 GB 4mm Tape Unit (supported in Linux and AIX 5L V5.2
partitions only)
– #8754 Optional Base 50 GB ¼-inch Cartridge Tape Device (w/d July 2004)
#7889 1475W Power Supply
– Requires an additional linecord
– Enables hot-plugging of either power supply
#6593 4-Disk Slot Expansion
– Can be driven by a disk controller in a PCI slot of the system unit.
– Cannot be controlled by the integrated base disk controller or by the #5709
if it is installed.
– The #6593 repositions the SCSI cable connector so that a long card can
be placed in card slot 4 and forces card slot 5 to be a short card.
