Model 570 upgrades
See Chapter 16, “Upgrades to iSeries servers” on page 307, for general upgrade
considerations and server-to-server upgrade possibilities. Supported model
upgrades for the Model 570 are identified in IBM Eserver iSeries Supported
Upgrades, REDP-0322.
On Demand features
Every IBM Eserver i5 570 offers several Capacity on Demand options that
make it possible to activate additional processor resource. Capacity Upgrade on
Demand, On/Off Capacity on Demand, Reserve Capacity on Demand, and Trial
Capacity on Demand are currently available. The following table summarizes the
different On Demand offerings and the features used.
For On Demand features have some base activations and you have the following
options available to activate additional resources:
򐂰 Capacity upgrade on Demand (Permanent)
Processor
Purchase processor activation feature, operating system licence, OLTP
5250 activation if needed on Enterprise Editions.
–Memory
Purchase permanent memory activation feature for On Demand memory
features.
򐂰 On/Off Capacity on Demand (temporary)
Processor
Purchase activation feature, used processor days will be billed using billing
feature. additional operating system licences and Enterprise Enablement
(5250 OLTP) not required.
–Memory
Purchase activation feature, used memory days will be billed using billing
features
򐂰 Reserve Capacity on Demand (prepaid)
Processor
Purchase 90 reserve days using processor, add to shared pool and
system activates processors as needed based on thresholds exceeded.
򐂰 Trial Capacity on Demand
