5½ Digit Multimeter Reference Manual Section 6:
Troubleshooting guide
2110-901-01 Rev. C/August 2013 6-3
Error codes
Errors are retrieved in first-in-first-out (FIFO) order. The first error returned is the first error that was
stored. When you have read all errors from the queue, the ERROR indicator turns off. The instrument
beeps once each time an error occurs.
If more than 20 errors occur, the last error stored in the queue (the most recent error) is replaced with
the error code:
-350, "Too many errors"
No additional errors are saved until you remove errors from the queue. After you remove errors from
the queue, the instrument responds with:
+0, "No error"
The following conditions clear the error queue:
• Turning off the power
• Sending a *CLS (clear status) command
The *RST (reset) command does not clear the error queue.
Refer to Viewing errors in the error queue (on page 2-24
) for information about how to view the
errors.
This topic provides information about execution errors (EE) and self-test errors (ST).
