Command summary
Common commands (summarized in Table 8-1) are device commands that are common to
all devices on the bus. These commands are designated and defined by the IEEE-488.2
standard. Most of these commands are described in detail in this section.
NOTE The following common commands associated with the status structure are cov-
ered in “Status Structure,: Section 7: *CLS, *ESE, *ESE?, *ESR?, *SRE,
*SRE?, and *STB?.

*IDN? Identification query Returns the manufacturer, model number, serial
number, and firmware revision levels of the unit.
*OPC Operation complete command Set the Operation Complete bit in the Standard
Event Register after all pending commands have
been executed.
*OPC? Operation complete query Places an ASCII “1” into the Output Queue when all
pending selected device operations have been
completed.
*OPT? Option query Returns summary of installed options.
*RCL <NRf> Recall command Returns the Model 2510 to the user-saved setup.
*RST Reset command Returns the Model 2510 to the *RST default condi
tions.
*SAV <NRf> Save command Saves the present setup as the user-saved setup.
*SRE <NRf> Service request enable command Programs the Service Request Enable Register.

*TRG Trigger command Sends a bus trigger to the Model 2510.
*TST? Self-test query Performs a checksum test on ROM and returns the
