10-34 SCPI Command Reference Models 2510 and 2510-AT User’s Manual
SOURce[1] subsystem
The SOURce[1] subsystem provides the most important Model 2510 control functions.
This subsystem consists of a closed-loop PID (Proportional, Integral, and Derivative) to
control temperature, current, voltage, and resistance. The closed-loop response of the sys-
tem is dependent upon the settings of the proportional, integral, and derivative gain con-
stants. The PID maintains balance in a closed-loop system by changing the control
variable in response to set point changes (See Section 4, PID Control Concepts). This bal-
ance is accomplished by feeding the error, which is the difference between the set point
and the process variable, to the PID controller, and the result of the PID calculation drives
the process variable towards the set point. The Model 2510 can be congured as a 50W
voltage source capable of delivering ±10V @ ±5A or a 50W current source capable of
delivering ±5A @ ±10V.
Table 10-5 summarizes SOURce[1] subsystem commands.
Control source output-off
[:IMMediate]
:SOURce[1]:CLEar[:IMMediate] Turn source output off
Description This command is used to turn off the source output. The output will turn
off after all programmed control-measure operations are completed. The
instrument returns to the idle state when ABORT is sent. This command
performs the same function as :OUTPut OFF.
Select source function
:FUNCtion[:MODE] <name>
:SOURce[1]:FUNCtion[:MODE] <name> Select source function
Parameters <name> = VOLTage Select voltage source function
CURRent Select current source function
TEMPerature Select temperature function
RESistance Select resistance function
Query :FUNCtion[:MODE]? Query current amplitude
Description This command selects the Model 2510 source function in the same man-
ner as the four front panel function keys (T, V, I, and R). System control
depends upon correct programming of PID constants (see below).
