4.3.2.2 Milk Transport to the Milk Storage Tank
Milk pump
The milk pump pumps the milk or cleaning water from the milk jar to
the 3-way valve and from there to either the milk tank, milk tank 2, the
calf milk line, the M4USE buckets or the sewer. The milk pump is driven
by a frequency regulator.
Milk line
The milk is transported through the milk line from the milk jar to the
milk tank. The milk line is a plastic tube with a diameter of 25 mm. It is
insulated to prevent external temperature influences.
Milk filter
During transport the milk passes the milk filter.
The filter must be replaced just before a main cleaning, to prevent that
the milk line is cleaned with a dirty filter.
If an automatic twin filter is applied, it switches automatically to a new
filter at the beginning of the hot cleaning. The other used filter can be
replaced somewhere between the main cleanings. If the used filter has
not been replaced, an alarm is generated 30 minutes before a main
cleaning. If the operator does not replace the filter, the CRS+ will not
switch to the other filter and continues to milk using the old filter.
Buffer vessel
A buffer vessel can be installed to continue milking during the emptying
and cleaning of the milk tank.
After the milk tank is emptied the milk tank is cleaned. From the start of
emptying the milk tank until the end of cleaning, the milk tank cannot
be used for milk storage. This can last up to three quarters of an hour.
During this time it is not possible to milk cows, so the ASTRONAUT A3
Next is put on standby. With a buffer vessel milking can continue. When
the cleaning of the milk tank is finished, the buffer vessel is emptied
into the milk tank.
The buffer vessel has no installation to cool the milk or to clean the
vessel. The buffer vessel is cleaned during main cleaning.
4.3.3 Milk Sampling
Sampling should be done with the Shuttle.
The tube of the sampling valve is connected to the shuttle.
The shuttle contains a rack with sampling vessels. The ASTRONAUT A3
Next control system keeps records on the number of the sampling vessel
in the rack and the cow's identity.
The commands for sampling are selected with the X-Link or T4C
software.
