matically set to 75 mm (3.0 in.) higher
than the N mode height.
O If the vehicle speed drops to 5 km/h (3
mph) or less, the vehicle height is auto-
matically set to 85 mm (3.3 in.) higher
than the N mode height.
Q Automatic change in vehicle height
when in L mode
If the vehicle speed drops to 12 km/h (7
mph) or less, N mode is automatically
resumed.
Q Extra high mode
If the vehicle becomes stuck, extra high
mode may be automatically selected when
the vehicle height is in H2 mode with the
four-wheel drive control switch in the L4
position.
The vehicle height is raised to 20 mm (0.8
in.) higher than the H2 mode height, or
slightly higher.
O Extra high mode will change back to H2
mode when:
The vehicle speed exceeds 10 km/h (6
mph)
The four-wheel drive control switch is
shifted to H4.
O If you press the height select switch
when in extra high mode, H1 mode
is selected.
O Extra high mode cannot be manually
selected.
Q Turning off the height control
O The system will remain off until the height
control OFF switch is pressed again,
even if the engine switch is turned off.
O Even if the system is turned off, the sys-
tem will intervene automatically if the
vehicle speed exceeds the following.
30 km/h (18 mph) with H2 or L mode
100 km/h (62 mph) with N or H1 mode
Q Automatic leveling function
The vehicle is adjusted to a fixed height for
each mode, regardless of the number of
occupants and the luggage load.
Q When the vehicle is stopped during
driving
The activation of the automatic leveling
function may cause the vehicle height to
change. This is not a malfunction.
Q If the vehicle height does not change
If the vehicle is loaded too heavily, or the
undercarriage has come into contact with
the road surface, the vehicle height cannot
be raised/lowered.
O In the following situations, the vehicle is
loaded too heavily. Take extra care when
driving in this condition.
If the vehicle height cannot be raised
when in N mode, and “L” appears on the
multi-information display
If the vehicle height cannot be raised
when in H1 mode, and “L” or “N” appears
on the multi-information display
If the vehicle height cannot be raised
when in H2 mode, and “L” or “N” or “H1”
appears on the multi-information display
O If the vehicle height cannot be raised
even after unloading the vehicle, press
the height select switch then press
to .
Q In the following cases the AHC will not
operate
O The AHC display on the meter will flash.
O Vehicle height control has not been fre-
quently used.
O The suspension fluid temperature is
lower than -30°C (-22°F).
O There is ice on the suspension.
O Driving on bumpy roads which may
cause the suspension to fully elongate.
O If the steering wheel is abruptly turned
more than 3/4 of a revolution with the
center differential lock system activated
(oP.417).
Q Cold weather operation
O It may take longer for the vehicle height
to change if the suspension fluid tem-
perature drops below -15°C (5°F).
