WARNING!
Risk of injury due to incorrect use!
Lateral Tilt is a positioning function intended for trained medical personnel only. The use of the
Lateral Tilt, including its angle of adjustment, must be preceded by an evaluation of the patient‘s condition by
the sta󰀨. This evaluation must take into account all risks resulting from the physical and mental state of the
patient, especially the risk of fall, and loss of bed stability.
It is possible to adjust either bed longitudinal tilt or bed lateral tilt outside the bed horizontal position, but not both at the same time
in the case of the Essenza 300 with Lateral Tilt.
The Lateral Tilt adjustment can only be performed by medical personnel who have been professionally trained by the manufacturer
or by persons authorized by the manufacturer.
Lateral Tilt adjustments cannot be performed by persons without proper training and healthcare expertise, including the patient and
visitors. Depending on the physical and mental state of the patient, medical personnel can lock the Lateral Tilt adjustment of the
control elements.
When adjusting the Lateral Tilt, the siderails must be set in the upper position and bed must be braked. Trained personnel are
responsible for braking the bed and reliably securing the siderails in the upper position.
When positioning or when turning the patient onto his side using a Lateral Tilt, proceed in such a way as not to reduce the lateral
stability of the bed.
During preventive positioning the patient with the help of Lateral Tilt, place suitable positioning aids (pillows) between the siderails
and parts of the patient‘s body that may come into contact with the siderails. In this way, it is possible to prevent pressure injuries
on the patient‘s body parts and increase the patient‘s comfort.
If a patient is left unattended in a bed laterally tilted, sta󰀨 must provide the following in advance:
The siderails of the bed are reliably secured in the upper position.
The position of the patient in the bed is stable. The patient is secured against accidental overturning with suitable positio-
ning aids (see „17 Accessories“ on the page 166).
If the Lateral Tilt is used when getting the patient out of bed, or when sitting in bed with the siderails in the down position,
medical personnel must ensure the following:
The patient gets out of bed, or sits in bed only in the presence of sta󰀨.
The sta󰀨 ensures the patient's safety during getting out of bed, or sitting in bed to prevent the patient from falling. In additi-
on to the sta󰀨's own assistance, suitable support aids can be used to ensure safety, e.g. siderails or support handles (Mobi-Lift).
The height of the bed must be adapted to the height and physical and mental status of the patient.
