Chapter 21 Appendix A: Operation Commands
128
Command: >set dhcp max_bootup_ping
Syntax: set dhcp max_bootup_ping number
Explanation: Since DHCP does not store a lease in permanent storage, every time it starts, it tries to ping
on each configured address to see if the configured addresses are already assigned to
some host PC statically or by other DHCP servers. This configuration instructs DHCP to set
the number of pings it will make. When DHCP starts, it pings periodically the number of
times defined by this command.
Parameters: number number of pings on each address
Command: >set dhcp ping_rate
Syntax: set dhcp ping_rate number
Explanation: Since DHCP does not store a lease in permanent storage, every time it starts, it tries to ping
on each configured address to see if the configured addresses are already assigned to
some host PC statically or by other DHCP servers. Instead of sending pings to all
addresses at once, DHCP sends pings repeatedly. The number of ping packets that will be
sent is decided by this configuration.
Parameters: number number of pings per attempt
Command: >set dhcp relay server
Syntax: set dhcp relay server ip address
Explanation: set ip address of the IP-6610 unit that you wish to use as a DHCP relay server
Parameters: Ip address
Command: >set dhcp relay state
Syntax: set dhcp relay state on/off
Explanation: This command stops/starts the dhcp relay server.
Parameters: setting possible values are ON and OF
Command: >set dhcp server
Syntax: set dhcp server setting
Explanation: This command stops/starts the dhcp server. If the user changes the dhcp configuration and
wants to activate that configuration, he/she needs to stop the dhcp first and then restart it..
Without rebooting the IP6610, this is the only way to update the dhcp server configuration.
Parameters: setting possible values are ON and OFF.
Command: >set dhcp dns_server
Syntax: set dhcp dns_server ipaddr1 [ipaddr2] [ipaddr3] [ipaddr4]
Explanation: Use this command to specify the dynamic name server (DNS) IP servers available to a
client. One IP address is required, although the user can specify up to four IP addresses.
Parameters: ipaddr1 The first DNS IP address
ipaddr2 The optional second DNS address
ipaddr3 The optional third DNS address
ipaddr4 The optional fourth DNS address
