What to do if MacDon Farm Equipment crop is not being cut at ends?
V
Vanessa GreenAug 29, 2025
If the crop is not being cut at the ends by your MacDon Farm Equipment, you can adjust the reel frown or reel horizontal position. Also, adjust the hold-downs so the knife works freely, but still keeps sections from lifting off guards. Replace all worn and broken cutting parts, level the header, and adjust the reel position and finger pitch. Consider replacing three or four end guards with stub guards.

stephanie23Nov 27, 2025
If your plants are being stripped and left behind, try the following adjustments: Lower the header to the ground and run on skid shoes and/or cutterbar. Set the float based on ground conditions: 445-667 N (100–150 lbf) for dry ground or 222–445 N (50–100 lbf) for wet ground. Fully retract the reel cylinders, adjust the reel height and finger pitch. Move the reel forward until the fingertips skim the soil surface with the header on the ground and the center-link properly adjusted. Lengthen the center-link. If cutting on the ground, increase the header angle by fully retracting the lift cylinders. Adjust the reel speed to be marginally faster than ground speed and lower the ground speed. Raise the skid shoes to the highest setting and install plastic wear strips on the bottom of the cutterba...

What to do if cut grain falling ahead of cutterbar on MacDon Farm Equipment?
M
Michelle ToddAug 26, 2025
If cut grain is falling ahead of the cutterbar, it could be due to several reasons. First, check if the ground speed or reel speed is too slow, and increase it if necessary. The reel might be too high, so lower it. Also, the cutterbar might be too high, so lower that as well. If the reel is too far forward, move it back on the arms. If you're cutting at speeds over 6 mph with a high torque reel drive sprocket, replace it with a standard torque one. Finally, inspect for worn or broken knife components and replace them.
