8. Install connecting rods onto crankshaft as follows:
a. Apply 2-4-C w/Teflon Marine Lubricant to connecting rod big-end bearings.
IMPORTANT: Replace roller bearing halves as a set. DO NOT use old and new
halves together.
b. Place both halves of connecting rod big-end roller bearing onto crank pin.

CAUTION
The word “UP” (cast on the outside of piston) must be toward flywheel end of
crankshaftwheninstallingpiston/rodassemblyontocrankshaft.Failuretoorient
piston/rod assembly correctly on crankshaft will result in piston rings catching
in ports causing powerhead damage. If “UP” is not present on top of piston,
raised rib on wrist pin boss must face up towards flywheel end of crankshaft.
