Cam Follower
1. Inspect cam follower for wear or galling. If wear is present, inspect corresponding shift
cam for wear. Replace if worn.

Clutch
1. Replaceclutch ifjawsare roundedorchipped. Roundedjaws maybe causedby thefol-
lowing:
· Improper shift cable adjustment or linkage.
· Engine idle speed too high while shifting.
· Shifting too slowly from NEUTRAL into FORWARD or REVERSE.

Propeller shaft
1. Check propeller shaft for straightness.
2. Inspectbushing/bearingsurfacesofpropellershaftforpittingorwear.Replaceshaftand
corresponding bushing/bearing if wear or pitting is observed.
3. Replace propeller shaft if any of the following exist:
· Splines are twisted or worn.
· Oil seal surface is grooved.
· Shaft has a noticeable “wobble” or is bent more than 0.006 in. (0.15 mm).
