6 Perform an Analysis
PERFORM A SAMPLE TUBE FREE SPACE ANALYSIS

Use Sample Tube Free Space to select sample tube files (.STB), a free space gas, and method to
perform a free space analysis. The ambient and analysis free space values are stored in the
sample tube file. Once the free space is measured and stored in the sample tube file, the sample
tube file can then be selected in the sample file. Then the operator can set the free space
operation to Calculate.
The sample tube free space has as inputs the free space gas to use, the method to use (to obtain
the preparation options), the bath temperature, and the target sample tube files. The outputs are
the target sample tube files with updated analysis/ambient temperature free space values.
Once configured, the operator does not need to run a free space analysis on each sample. It is
calculated from the measured, empty tube free space corrected by the sample mass and density.
1. In the Sample Tube Free Space window, select a method, free space gas, and sample tube
file needed to perform free space analysis. Or click New or Browse to create a new or edit
an existing sample tube file. Ensure that an empty sample tube is attached to the selected
ports for the sample tube free space analysis.
2. Click Next.
After clicking Next, acknowledge that empty sample tubes have been installed on the
selected ports by clicking Next again. Wait for the free space measurement to complete.
