5.9 System Startup
1. Ensure all connections required for successful installation have been
completed.
Electrical Connection - section 5.7 [82].
Connect Work Sense Clamp Cable - section 5.3 [78].
Gas Supply Connections and Supply Turned ON - section 5.4 [79].
Torch Connections - section 5.5 [79].
2. Close external interlocks (12-pin connector: pins 1, 2 and 3, 4). If interlock is
connected to door switches this means the door to the laser enclosure must
be closed. Refer to section 5.6.1 [80] (pinout information) and 5.8 [84]
(setup and testing of door interlocks).
3. Ensure the red E-Stop button, that is located on the front panel of the device,
is released. If it is not, turn the button clockwise to release. Refer to section
7.1.8 [104].
4. Turn load switch on the rear panel to the 1 (ON) position.
5. Turn the keyswitch clockwise to the 1 (ON) position.
6. All LED indicators and Displays will light ON for 3 seconds. Please wait for the
device controller CPU to fully boot up (takes approximately 7 seconds).
7. When the OptX device is turned ON for the very first time, the system boots up
into a “locked” state. A 4-digit activation code is required to activate the unit
for use. Refer to section 2.10 [59] for instructions on how to proceed. If unit
was previously unlocked skip to next step.
WARNING
All electrical connections must be connected prior to applying power to the unit.
Where applicable, all connections must be secured with screws to ensure proper
functionality.
WARNING
Ensure you wear all PPE gear while operating this product. These include spec-
ified laser safety glasses, welding helmet with face shield, laser and heat-resis-
tant gloves, clothes, apron.
Make sure all power is removed from the laser when handling the delivery fiber
cable. Minimum allowed bending radius is 50mm.
IMPORTANT
When starting the laser device from an OFF state:
Even if you turn the key in the keyswitch to the (1) ON position, the laser device
will not turn on if the E-Stop button is triggered (pressed).
The E-Stop must first be released.
