5.4 Switching the Cutoff length (c)
The cutoff length can be switched according to the roughness value to be measured.
■ Displaying the roughness range classification
To select an optimal cutoff length according to the roughness value to be measured, set up
the Ra, Ry, Rz, and Sm parameters in addition to the required one. After this setup has been
made, select a cutoff length appropriate to the roughness range being displayed according to
the selected standard.
This is helpful for selecting a cutoff length as appropriate for the given roughness value.

To have the roughness ranges displayed with appropriate cutoff lengths on the screen, have
the desired parameter displayed upper region on the Home screen by scrolling the parameter
display up or down.
Example: If the cutoff length appropriate to a certain Ra value is required, have the Ra
indicated on the upper region as shown below.
