11. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION OF SJ-301
■ Recharging the battery
The battery switch must be on to recharge the battery. If it is off, turn the switch at rear of
the Display unit on.
NOTE The SJ-301 determines by itself the time needed to fully charge the battery and
regularly updates the data in the internal memory. This data, however, is erased if
the battery switch is tuned off. With the initialized time data, the SJ-301 may fail to
charge the battery.
Accordingly, it is recommended that the BATTERY switch is remained ON unless
otherwise necessary.

1. Plug the AC adapter into the power outlet.
2. Insert the AC adapter plug into the AC adapter input connector at the rear of the Display
unit.

NOTE In the following conditions, the battery recharge mark may not appear and battery
recharging may not be proceeded.
1. When the SJ-301 is used for the first time.
2. When the SJ-301 is used after being kept unused long time.
3. When the battery switch is set to OFF.
For the cases of 1 and 2, there is a possibility of over discharge, therefore first
perform the force charging referring to section 11.3, "Recharging the battery ■ Force
charging."
For the case of 3, recharge after set the battery switch to ON.
