11. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION OF SJ-301
■ Force charging
The internal battery may be excessively discharged after having the SJ-301 left unused for
more than a half year.
Excessively discharge battery may not be charged in a normal way.
If this is the case, perform force charging following the procedure below:
NOTE Force charging is to raise the voltage of the excessively discharged battery to a level
where charging can take place. Accordingly, force charging will not fully charge the
battery. To have the battery fully charged, follow the procedures given in section
11.3 Charging the battery.
1. Turn of the battery switch on the rear of the Display unit.
2. Connect the AC adapter to the Diplay unit.
3. With the battery switch tuned off, press the [POWER] key while holding down the
[CONDITION READ] key.
4. The Display unit turns on with the Force charging screen displayed on the touch panel.

5. Battery charging starts, and after completion of charging the charging sign disappears and
the power turns off.
NOTE During force charging, the SJ-301 is not operative.
