■ Inputting characters (alphabets)
In the SJ-301, a string of characters such as file name to be registered and comment to be
printed are inputted in the respective screen.
The procedure for inputting the file name “ST-1” in the Statistical Data File Name Input
screen is given as an example.
NOTE • Filename can not include (*).(¥), nor(.).
• The number of characters permitted to input is as follows:
Measurement condition file name: up to 8 characters
Comment about the measurement condition file: up to 25 characters
Measured profile data file name: up to 8 characters (up to 5 characters when the
DATA key is used)
Comment about the measured profile data file: up to 25 characters
Statistical data file name: up to 8 characters
Comment about the statistical data file: up to 25 characters
Memo appended to document: up to 10 characters

[Alphabet]
The screen is ready for input of the file name.
NOTE Shown under the input field is the number of
characters or data range that can be inputted
for the item concerned. For example, “max 8
chara” on the screen left indicates the file name
allows up to 8 characters to be entered.
NOTE Multiple characters are assigned to each
character button. The number of key-strokes
needed to input a character depends on its
position on the button.
Touch the [STU/2] button once, then touch the [ ] button.
“S” is inputted in the field, and the next character can be
entered.
TIP • Characters inputted can be deleted one by
one by touching the [BS] button.
• The [AC] button deletes all the characters at
a time.
Touch the [STU/2] button twice, then touch the [ ] button.
“T” is inputted in the field, and the next character can be
entered.
