3. SETTING UP THE SJ-301
■ Attaching the Detector
IMPORTANT • If fitting the Detector into the Drive unit, do not force the Detector. Doing so may
cause instrument failure.
• The Detector moves smoothly at first being fitted in the guide way inside the
Drive unit, then connector pins of each unit must be fitted to each other. After the
Detector is felt rather tight in the guide of the Drive unit, further push in the
Detector until it stops with the connector pins fitted. If the Detector is firmly fitted
in the Drive unit, the screw on the top of the Detector is aligned with the A-face
shown.

• If using the standard drive unit, do not attach the detector in the detector retract
state.The connector at the recess of the detector guide way in the Drive unit may
not be located with the inserted Detector.
Release the detector-retraction-state in this case referring to section “11.2 Detec-
tor retraction and release”.
Confirm the connector positions on both the Detector and Drive unit sides, then insert the
Detector straightforward in the Drive unit.
