Toolbox System Status Messages (continued)

X_INK_LOW
Example: CYAN_ INK_LOW
X = Color.
One or more Ink Tanks
are low on ink.
Ink Tank replacement will be necessary
soon. Reorder Ink
INK_OUT_X
Example: INK_OUT_YELLOW
X = Color or “MULTI”
One or more Ink Tanks
are out of ink
MULTI = more than
one.
Replace empty Ink Tank(s)
Verify that Ink Tanks are seated firmly
and latches are fully closed.
Clear error by cycling print engine
power, using ON/OFF button.
See “Troubleshooting”, “The Ink
Tanks” for additional details.
Tank improperly flagged
as out. This was a
firmware bug.
Update the firmware to 20130820 or
higher. After doing so; Tanks with this
condition can still be used.
X = Color or MULTI
Missing Ink Tank, or Ink
Tank not being
recognized
Replace Ink Tank(s) using proper
procedure.
Insert missing Ink Tank.
Clean Ink Tank contacts as outlined in
“Operator Maintenance” section.
Clear error by pressing the “Refresh Ink
Levels” button in the Toolbox.
Clean Ink Tank contacts located at the
back of the Ink Tank slot.
If problem continues with known good
Tank, then replace the ink tank
interface board (board that makes
contact with Tank inside the printer).
Media is not making it
from the entry sensor to
exit sensor in the
appropriated time.
Possible issue with
format or orientation of
job being sent.
Possible issue with
Encoder in Print Engine.
Resistance to Print
Engine drive or media
movement.
Check for dirty grit rollers within print
engine. If media is slick (slippery), try a
different media.
Check/clean sensors.
Try changing the orientation setting in
the software/driver or setting a different
media size.
Check/clean encoder and wheel.
Units with Uncovered Encoder Wheel:
Carefully clean the Encoder Wheel,
located at the operator side of the print
engine, using a lint free cloth dampened
with distilled water. Install the Encoder
Shield Kit (part # 42-900-20).
Check for mechanical issues that may
cause resistance to transport or media
movement. Check belt tension. Use tool
(42-110-54) to properly set belt tension.
