3. Remove the remaining two bolts that retain the front
camshaft carrier
e
and carefully lift the carrier off the
camshafts.
4. Hold camshafts with an open-end wrench. Remove
the top bolts
r
from the camshaft sprockets.
5. Rotate the engine to allow access to the remaining
bolt on each camshaft sprocket.
6. Remove two fasteners
t
and the cam chain
tensioner from the cylinder. Use a new tensioner
gasket upon assembly.
7. Remove the remaining bolts
r
from each camshaft
sprocket
8. Lift the chain and sprockets off the camshafts to
allow each sprocket to be removed.
9. Using a paperclip or other tool, hold cam chain up.
NOTICE
The crankcase has a built-in lower guide to prevent the
chain from falling off the crankshaft.
10. Evenly loosen the four bolts retaining each rear
camshaft carrier
y
and carefully lift the carriers off
the camshafts.
11. Mark the intake
i
and exhaust
u
camshafts to
ensure proper assembly.
12. Carefully remove camshafts from the cylinder head.
