Explanation of System
The Tissue-Tek® Polar® is an instrument to freeze and section tissues and prepare sections.
Preparation of high-quality frozen specimens (D&DM type: Standard specification)
Proper cooling of the specimen head (specimen holder) and area around the blade holder in the chamber
allows for preparation of high-quality frozen tissue sections. In particular, the specimen head (specimen
holder) reaches the setpoint temperature in just several seconds, so all types of tissues from lymph node
tissues to fatty tissues can be sectioned rapidly in an ideal temperature band.
Very easy-to-use operation panel and chamber design
The home position key *1, trim key, etc., let you section tissues in fewer steps. The wide chamber also
allows for smooth collection of sections. Interior walls of the chamber are flat for easy cleaning.
*1: The home position key lets you move the specimen head to the registered position to start cutting with a
touch of the key.
Prevention of infection after sectioning (D&DM type: Standard specification)
Ozone disinfection and debris removal functions are provided for bio-hazard control.
The process completes in approximately 75 minutes under cooling to reduce the risk of bacterial or viral
infection in the chamber.
Prevention of infection during sectioning (D&DM type: Optional)
To prevent infection during sectioning, a draft generator can be installed to keep contaminated air from
diffusing outside the chamber. This function prevents infection during sectioning.
