This information is transferred to AIS if ECDIS is interfaced to AIS device and if the option
“Send data to the transponder” is activated in Sensor Monitor, sensor AIS Transponder.

Click on the D.R. bookmark to bring the D.R. page to the front.
Toggle Enable Dead Reckoning to switch D.R. ON or OFF.
When the Dead Reckoning mode is enabled the following warning is displayed:
In the D.R. mode, the ship’s position is calculated from the last position acquired from the
GPS and from the current values of heading and speed. When the heading and speed values
are no longer available, the D.R. mode is no more available and ECDIS switches to Simulation
mode.
When the D.R mode is active, the values Ship Position can be adjusted at any time on top of
the page.
SIMULATION MODE
Simulation must be toggled ON before Heading and Speed can be changed.
Adjust Headings, STW, Drift Speed and direction by entering new values using the keyboard
or toggling the up and down arrows. From these values, the COG and SOG are calculated.
