New weather forecasts
When the hull is clean and newly painted the hull roughness parameter should be 0 and the
ship performing according to the curves.
With increase of roughness the performances of the ship decline and the consumption
increases. The navigator controls the effect of the roughness by entering a coefficient in hull
roughness (Around 5% per year for example).

EW WEATHER FORECASTS
The weather data updates are received automatically on board thanks to MBA (MDS) on a
daily basis.
The data includes the wind, wave, sea, swell, pressure for 10 to 14 days. The current forecasts
are either sent daily for medium resolution data or must be manually ordered for high
resolution current forecasts
ACTIVE ROUTE
When the ship is on active route, the navigator should optimize the route each time when
new weather or current forecasts have been received.
Proceed as follow:
Make sure that the flag “Monitoring mode” is checked on.
Press Least time Optimization button
Check the new optimized route to make sure that the route is correct
Press the button “Create route plan” to create new waypoints
Activate the new route
