Checking the optimized route
Right click on the optimized route, select the menu item “Activate xxx” to activate the new
route
The optimized route is now the new active route.
CHECKING THE OPTIMIZED ROUTE
The optimized route calculated by VDS is designed to keep the vessel away from heavy
weather (waves constrains) and shallow water (Safety contour) as well as any no go areas
defined by the master.
However it is strongly recommended:
• To check the optimized route against the weather forecasts to make sure that the sea
conditions are acceptable and to evaluate any risks which might be present, as for
example ice conditions and tropical storms.
• To check the route against the electronic charts by using the function “Check route”.
• To check visually the route in order to verify the safe water depth, the distance to shore,
safety fairway crossing and any other potential dangers for navigation.
